REIKI !

REIKI is the Japanese word for UNIVERSAL LIFE FORCE ENERGY.This is the Life Force of Spirit which flows through all living things. This Life Force floods everything which is alive. Trees, plants, animals, fish, insects, human beings, of course and also crystals and minerals.

Reiki was rediscovered in the mid-late 19th Century by a Dr. Mikao Usui who was a Japanese Christian Minister who is traditionally believed to have been the Principal of the University of Kyoto in Japan. During a teaching session his students asked him to teach them to heal just as Jesus had.

He could not answer this question, so the story goes, being a very proud man, he resigned and went in search of this knowledge. He studied widely, many ancient texts in many countries, not only Japan but America and India, over many years. He understood not only Japanese but also Chinese, English, and ancient Sanskrit which is the literary language of India which Buddhist rituals are written in. He went on a long healing mission which eventually resulted in him rediscovering a healing technique lost thousands of years ago. He devised the Reiki Ideals in meditation.

Just for today, I will not worry.

Just for today, I will not anger.

Just for today, I will honour every living thing.

Just for today, I will earn my living honestly.

Just for today, I will show an attitude of gratitude.

We try to live by these ideals, to live by Reiki, but if we cannot keep to them right now, there is always another day to try to follow this Wisdom. Reiki healing itself follows strict methodology.

Reiki is channelled into the Chakras, which are Energy centres of the body. There are seven major Chakras running along the body. They run from the base of the spine up to the crown of the head and resonate to colour, flowing in the order of the rainbow from base up. ie ROYGBIV There are also minor chakras in the knees hands and feet, as well as other points.

THE SEVEN MAJOR CHAKRAS

The Base Chakra is situated at the base of the spine and has to do with primitive instincts. It resonates to the colour red, crystal choice could be red jasper.

The Sacral Chakra is between the pubic bone and navel and has to do with sexuality and creativity. relating to orange, crystal often used is carnelian.

The Solar Plexus is situated under the diaphragm and is to do with sense of self and identity. This resonates to yellow. Citrine is a good stone also yellow calcite.

The Heart Chakra relates to love and balance and resonates to both green and pink. Crystals could be malachite and rose quartz.

The Throat Chakra relates to communication and expression and is connected to pale blue, blue lace agate being a lovely stone for here.

The Third eye Chakra is in the centre of the forehead and is connected with understanding and insight. This area resonates to indigo, crystal could be lapis lazuli or sodalite.

The Crown Chakra is to do with Truth and Spirituality and is related to violet or purple, stone is the lovely amethyst.

The word Chakra means "wheel" in Sanskrit, the Indian literary language. If you could see them they would appear as whirling wheels of spinning energy. When we are healthy, the Chakras spin freely, but as blockages occur, often due to traumatic experience, so the free movement is reduced and eventually prevented, which causes the organs nearby to suffer. Blocking off our feelings or bottling things up does enormous damage to our energy systems. When we get out of balance we are more prone to illness. All forms of illness can be the result of blocked off emotions.

Differently Coloured mineral crystals can be placed over the Chakras as indicated above, to enhance the healing. Crystals vibrate to colour and emit a tiny electro-magnetic charge which harmonises with the vibrations of certain organs within the body and assist in bringing the body back into balance with itself, especially with Reiki Energy passed through them.

A Reiki Treatment

A basic Reiki treatment is best performed when the person requiring the healing is lying down on a comfortable couch. It is not absolutely necessary, as some people have problems with lying and healing is exactly the same when sitting in a chair, but it is more relaxing to lie down.

Usually relaxation music is played in the back-ground and the healer works from the head down to the toes, you then turn over and work down the back in the same way.

The healing is applied along the Chakras or energy centres – the crown, third eye on the forehead, the throat, the heart, the solar plexus, the sacral in the lower stomach area and the base chakra at the foot of the spine. It is a hands-on healing therapy, but you do not have to touch the body, you can work a little way above, if the client prefers not to be touched. It is more comfortable for the healer to rest the hands, though.  Permission to touch should be requested first.

Reiki is drawn in through the crown of the head and down into the heart, along the arms and flows from the hands of the healer to the chakra centres. It also flows through the soles of the feet ! It is usually applied to each point for 3 – 5 minutes. There are numerous specific hand positions to a basic treatment as well as treating specific painful areas. A full treatment lasts from about an hour or more for the first session (as your case history has to be collected) to an hour approximately, after that.

As well as treating in person, absent healing i.e. sending healing to a person not in your presence is possible. On learning Second Degree Reiki you learn a Sacred Symbol (amongst others) that facilitates distance work. Reiki can be sent across the entire globe to help people in need as well as the Planet itself..

When you have completed a First Degree Reiki course you will have had your chakras opened to channel the beautiful Reiki Healing Energy, both to yourself as well as others, but will have no access to the Sacred symbols. Reiki also enhances Spiritual development greatly.

You are also taught the traditional history of Reiki and about the chakras. Your Master will have taught you the complicated hand positions for healing others and about self-healing, it is very important to keep yourself healthy if you wish to help others. 21 Days after, are for clearing.

You learn the Sacred Symbols in Second Degree Reiki and ways to implement them and different methods of passing on Absent Healing and clearing of energy.

At Master’s level, you are given the Master symbol and taught to teach Reiki to others, amongst other things, depending on your Reiki Master and their lineage down from Dr Usui himself i.e. who taught who, right the way down to present day ! You get your lineage down from Dr Usui himself, with Reiki One. I have not chosen to teach Reiki, as yet.
